What a CRAZY week!
Nothing a little planning couldn’t handle but that’s just it…I’m NOT a planner. Thankfully being a mom has forced me to work on my scheduling skills.
So I started thinking, what would have happened to my workout time if I hadn’t put it in my calendar. I’ll tell you. It would’ve never happened.
I would've tried to cram my normal daily tasks into what seemed like a regular week, to then realize the kids not only had one but TWO 1/2 days of school.
Seems harmless, right?!? NOOOO!
How do I know?...I’ve lived it. Those precious hours, refocused on little one’s needs, are lost forever. And the ultimate sacrifice is my “me” time.
This hasn’t just happened to me with the kids school schedule though. There's the classic “oh, I’ll just do one more load of laundry” or the over ambitious, “if I could get through my work to-do list first, then...". And so on & so on.
It seems reasonable and do-able at the time but then something else comes up. Maybe I get a phone call or remember an email I forget to reply to. Next thing I know I’m scrolling through Instagram and reading about the latest celebrity break-up or googling “easy-quick recipe ideas”.
Before I know it the sun’s going down & I wondering why I still have my workout outfit on, when I haven’t sweat in it yet.
You’re probably thinking “Yea, right? She’s a fitness instructor. Working out is built into her life.”
You’re right to some extent. But on the other end, I eat, live & breathe this stuff because I love it and I know how good it makes me feel. And I want to make sure I get at least a little man, make that, WOMAN-MADE SUNSHINE EVERYDAY!
I’m not saying you have to put in a full hour, 7-days a week. Just give yourself at least 15 minute each day.
So on the days you can’t make it to one of my Cardio Dance or Barre3 classes and if time doesn’t allow you to do a workout video on JBirdFitness.com, put in your calendar a walk around the neighborhood, wake-up 15 mins. earlier to do a quick morning yoga flow or take time to turn on some music & dance it out before you sit down for lunch. (Most say this one works best for those who work at home but I say, hell, get the whole office involved)
Here’s one really important thing…
YOU NEED TO PUT IT IN YOUR CALENDAR!
I’m serious. Setting an alarm for each day’s workout is even better.
Make the commitment to look at your full week’s schedule ahead of time. Put it in “writing”. Set the alarms. And you will be bound for success.
Ok, that’s all I’ve got this week since I’m still recover from the school calendar craziness. But below are some ways you can start filling in your calendar already. Take a look and start filling in those hours of your day with some of your own human-made sunshine (aka endorphin-based happy vibes).
Your time starts NOW! 😘
Love,
Janine
