Staying Motivated...

If you didn’t know, I love getting on a spin bike when I am itchin’ for cardio. And the other day I was taking one of my favorite classes. The instructor teaches very different than me. She is very task & time oriented and I love to be inspired by the music and finding a flow. But I really like the instructors personality, trust her approach and I know it’s good to switch things up every now & then. Plus, even though she doesn’t choreograph her class to music, she always has a great playlist.

Stages Cycling Spin Bike

You’ll find me on this bike at least 2 times a week.

Anyway, that particular day, I was happy to hear the spin workout was being broken down into 3 hills with shorter sprints in between. All I wanted to know was what was the longest block of time I had to work. The answer: 12 minutes.

I was tired when I arrived and thought I’d be grateful if I got through half the class, but before I knew it I had done the whole 60 minutes.

I’m not going to lie and say I was smiling the whole time. Ironically the short sprints were the most challenging. But I was definitely happy after each interval.

When it comes to your workouts, even on your roughest day, taking just one step forward has the ability to change your perspective.

But you have to take that first step.

Music Inspiration:

Funny, Ryan had changed my sirius channel in my car yesterday and I didn't realize it. The first song was Complicated by Avril Lavigne, which should have tipped me off followed by Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot".

Really??? Nope... I still didn't glance at the radio until I heard:

"The Climb" by Miley Cyrus

That little bugger changed my radio to Pop 2k. All songs from 2000-2010.

But one good thing came out it, it inspired this blog by reminding me of spin class. I'm not the biggest Miley fan, but the lyrics are good.

"Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb."
