So I will admit, last week was FUN but...I am completely BBQ’d out!
With the 4th of July being in the middle of the week, I really thought it was going to be a chill holiday this year. But instead, it just meant more days to get together.
And my body is feelin’ it.
It’s screaming “No More Burgers”!
Oh and “We need a detox over here!”
The food was yummy and the drinks were delicious but it’s time to get back on track, especially since we have another vacation coming up.
So I thought I’d share, 3 ways I enjoy summer without going overboard on the cocktails & junk food.
- I’m “good” during the week, to enjoy the weekends. Good meaning, I eat light during the day, allowing myself the ability to cook something yummy on the grill at night or take advantage of summer events like friend get togethers even during the weekdays. Then, when the weekend approaches I can sit with my kids at the ice cream shoppe guilt free.
- If I’m at a party, I save my calories for the main meal. I try to skip the appetizers (unless there’s veggies & hummus, those I can't resist), fill my plate with protein & veggies/salad. And no, I'm not talking about the macaroni or potato salad. But definitely go for the leafy greens and lighter dressing options.
- I fill my glass with water first. If I want an alcoholic beverage, I then go for a wine spritzer or my new favorite Lemon Infused Vodka with club soda. Then chase it with another glass of water.
Being good doesn’t mean being boring or a stick in the mud.
You just need to make conscious choices about what you are putting in your body...
...to have FUN and FEEL GREAT in your body!
