"This has been great, but I need a change"

Year after year, New Year after New Year, I get SUPER pumped. Ready to jump out of the gate and take off.

But this year...things felt different.

My brain wanted to kick it into high gear, but my body said "Slow down, what's the rush?" and it's taken me a little longer to get the engines going.

At first I was getting frustrated and being stubborn, wondering why am I feeling this way. But now that I've arrived...arrived in a happy place, a place that has gradually eased into my routine, I feel so good.

I can't emphasis how important it is to listen to your body.

I'm glad I listened to mine and from the sounds of things, I'm not alone. This past week I've had a handful of JBirds tell me similar stories.

It turns out, while my body was saying "Take it one day at a time", other's were saying:

"This has been great, but I need a change"
"Hey you! How can we find a balance of what I need & what I want?"
"Can we spice things up here and have a little fun with this?"


Assuming "this" means the time you dedicate to exercise and moving your body...

The answers seem like completely do-able requests, but being creatures of habit makes it a little challenging.

Notice I said little. Little but ABSOLUTELY possible & no better time than the present.

So, before your week even begins I want you to genuinely ask your body...

"What do you want?"

And listen but...don't stop there.

Make the change.

Even if that means it's simply doing a 2-3 minute stretch flow before you jump in the shower every morning. Or you pick up a heavier set of weights, but own the fact you may need to do less reps & work up to the challenge. Change is good.

But is even better when you couple it with respecting what your body needs at this moment in time. Creating an undeniable inner strength & awareness unlike any other.
